Govt employee electrocuted on Subansiri embankment

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Dec 24 - An employee of the Water Resources Department of Lakhimpur was electrocuted while on duty on a Subansiri river embankment in Jugalpur on Saturday.

The incident occurred when 47-year-old Lokeshwar Nath, an employee of the North Lakhimpur Circle of State Water Resources Department, was surveying the embankment on the right side of Subanri river in Jougalpur along with his colleagues on Saturday.

An aluminium scale carried by Nath in his hands came in contact with a high power cable above the embankment and he suffered an electric shock. Nath was rushed to North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

It�s worth mentioning that the power cables crisscrossing the riverine areas of Lakhimpur have been lying low posing serious threats to local residents.
