Govt considering options to revive paper mills: CM

NEW DELHI, May 7 - The Assam government is working on plans and considering legal options to revive the two paper mills of Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (HPC) even as the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has announced initiation of liquidation proceedings of the two ailing industrial units.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday evening, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the State government is considering various options, including legal ones. �We are committed to revive both the paper mills. We have already taken a decision regarding this and we are planning to take legal steps to revive the mills. The Government of Assam is committed to revive both the paper mills,� he said.

The NCLT was referred the HPC case last June and early this month, it formally started the liquidation process of the two HPC units in Assam � Cachar Paper Mill at Panchgram and Nagaon Paper Mill at Jagiroad.
