Govt committed to protecting language, culture of State: CM

DIBRUGARH, Jan 16 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that the state government was striving to execute and fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the indigenous communities of the state vigorously and with determined spirit since 2016 through various initiatives.

Speaking to newsmen at his residence here, the Chief Minister who arrived here for the first time after massive statewide protest against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, while seeking people�s cooperation asserted that the state government is working towards protecting Assam�s language, traditions, culture and its land by taking up Language Policy and Land Policy and this itself must be a testimony that the government is working with full responsibility for all round development of the indigenous communities of the state.

�It must be our endeavor to develop and make Assam economically strong so that it becomes one of the most sought after destination in South East Asia and also becomes conducive for new generations. In an effort to strengthen and help our state grow at all fronts we must also strive to exploit the available natural resources of the region to the maximum,� said Sonowal.

On the occasion of Bhogali Bihu Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had also visited his home in Mulukgaon, 12 kms from Chabua yesterday. En route he was shown black flags by Bihu revelers of Mudoi village. The local villagers including women and children came out on the road and waved black flags at the convoy of Sonowal.
