Govt body ignores RTI query for 4 years

By Correspondent

RAHA, Aug 25 - Even after four years of submitting an RTI application to the Nagaon district administration, it has failed to answer the query.

The RTI activist, Bhagyadhar Das, a resident of Sirmola village at Gospara under Raha revenue circle, said, I filed an RTI with the Project Director, DRDA, Nagaon, asking for the list of beneficiaries under IAY scheme of Hatbor village panchayat of Raha constituency on February 25, 2011, and details of completed works of the same panchayat under NREAGA scheme, but the concerned authorities are yet to reply to my query.

The RTI activist alleged that the project director and the RTI cell of Nagaon district administration passed the buck when he personally contacted them.

According to reports, the DRDA project director received the documents on February 25, 2011. After two years, the officials informed Das through a letter that the office was sending an interim reply and suitable response would be sent to him as soon as any input was received from the units concerned.

Later, the RTI cell of Nagaon district administration, informed Das that they were neither the custodians of the RTI information sought by him, nor the information was held by or under the control of that public authority, therefore, cannot be provided by it.
