Govt avoiding tabling of CAG report: AGP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 2 The State Government is avoiding tabling of the Comptroller and Auditor Generals (CAGs) report on its special audit of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) finance in the State Asssembly. It is learnt that the Government will place the report on the ultimate day of the current session of the Assembly.

This was alleged by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president and MLA Chandra Mohan Patowary while addressing a press conference along with the other leaders of the Opposition parties.

Patowary said that the Government is taking recourse to the plea that printing of the copies of the CAG report is still not complete.

When asked to state as to whether any communication has been made by the Opposition parties with the CAG or the Government on the issue, Leader of the Opposition Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said that it is the duty of the Government to supply the Assembly members the copies of the CAG report on its special audit.

The Opposition has been making communications with the Government on the issue of tabling the report. But the Government is avoiding tabling of the report for the fear that some of its Ministers would be nailed, said Mahanta.
