Governor�s wishes on Shab-e-barat

GUWAHATI, April 8 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended his warm greetings to the people of Assam, particularly those belonging to the Muslim community, on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-barat.

In a message, Prof Mukhi called upon all to pray to Allah for His divine mercy and blessings for the welfare of mankind. He also said, �On the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-barat, I wish all with lots of happiness, good health and success and hope this occasion re-energises our connection with our forefathers.�

The Governor also appealed to everybody to celebrate the occasion by adhering to the protocols of social distancing. He also urged people not to make any religious gatherings and follow the safety guidelines issued in view of the coronavirus pandemic and pray to strengthen the State�s age-old bonhomie and harmonious co-existence.

Meanwhile, Christian community members under the leadership of Reverend Archbishop of Guwahati Diocese Father John Moolachera and his team, called on Governor Mukhi at the Raj Bhavan today and apprised him of the relief work they are undertaking in the State to give relief and respite to those affected by the lockdown.
