GUWAHATI, March 8 - Governor PB Acharya has conveyed his greetings to all women on the International Women�s Day and has stressed that women empowerment is of utmost importance. �We all must learn to show due respect, appreciation and love towards women,� he said.
In a message, the Governor said that the International Women�s Day, originally called�the International Working Women�s Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year. �In different regions, the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women to a celebration for women�s economic, political, and social achievements,� he said.�
Meanwhile, a group of eight lady members of the Rashtra Sevika Samity, led by Dr Neelima Goswami, met the Governor at Raj Bhavan here on the occasion and held a discussion on women�s issues. The group also handed over a memorandum to the Governor on behalf of the Vandaneeya Laxmibai Kelkar Smarak Samiti.
