GUWAHATI, June 4 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has conveyed his greetings to the people on the occasion of World Environment Day.
In his message Prof Mukhi said, �World Environment Day is observed on June 5 every year to promote awareness on the importance of preserving our biodiversity, the need to identify problems related to the environment and ways to take corrective steps.�
The Governor said that over the years, human activities have caused so much degradation that it has disturbed the ecosystem. He urged all sections of people to come together to stop any further damage to the planet and plant more and more saplings to increase the green coverage to make it greener and more serene.
He also appealed to all citizens to keep their surroundings clean and put in the best efforts for building a healthy environment.
