Governor�s directive to NCHAC chairman

HAFLONG, Jan 23 - The Assam Governor, PB Acharya has directed the Chairman of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) to summon an emergent session of the Council within January 31 amid reports that the present CEM Niranjan Hojai has lost majority in the council.

The Governor�s action came after he received a letter from Debojeet Thaosen, MAC, NC Hills Autonomous Council on behalf of 16 members of the council that stated that the present Chief Executive Member of NCHAC has lost the confidence of the majority of the members. The Governor also directed that the notice for the same should be issued within January 25 to the members of the Council to take appropriate action in accordance with the rules and procedures enumerated in the Assam Autonomous District (Constitution of District Council Rules, 1951.

It is learnt that the present CEM, Niranjan Hojai has also claimed to have the confidence of the majority of executive members.
