Governor to attend Int�l Yoga Day programmes

GUWAHATI, June 18 � Assam and Nagaland Governor PB Acharya will attend the International Yoga Day programme organised by thr North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC) at Shilpgram here on June 21.

The programme is being organised on a grand scale and yoga will be conducted by four groups consisting of 500 to 600 yoga enthusiasts. The presence of yoga gurus in the programme would also make it more interesting, an official release said. The programme will begin from 7 am and each group will perform one at a time and would be allotted a duration of half an hour.

At the programme, the Governor would also present three awards from his side. The awards to be presented are �Patanjali Yoga Award�, �Aryabhatta Yoga Award� and �Bhaskaracharya Yoga Award�.

From Shilpgram, the Governor will proceed to the programme at Nehru Yuvak Kendra Sangathan. He is also likely to attend another programme organised by the Shishu Shiksha Samiti.

The Governor has appealed to all schools, colleges, universities, NGOs, student organisations, trade unions and all members of the public to participate in good numbers and groups in the celebrations. Stressing that the practice of yoga not only gives a sound body, but also a sound mind and a sharp intellect, the Governor insisted that the universities and all educational institutions should celebrate the day at their campuses.
