DIPHU, June 16 � Assam Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya visited Howraghat on Monday. He interacted with the members of different social organisations and was apprised of the problems of the area. The CEM of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang, along with other EMs, also met the Governor.
Some job card beneficiaries, who met the Governor, told him that they were not getting their wages. The Governor instructed the Project Director, DRDA, to release their wages at the earliest.
Acharya also visited Sankardev Sishu Bidya Niketan HS School, Howraghat, and interacted with the students. He took stock of the drinking water facilities and inquired as to whether the students were getting regular midday meals in their schools. He urged the students to choose the right careers so that they can contribute towards nation building. Acharya also announced Rs 1 lakh from his development fund for the construction of toilets at the Howraghat HS School. Before leaving for Diphu, PB Acharya visited the newly-constructed bridge over the Jamuna river at Bakalia.
Interacting with media persons, the Governor expressed his displeasure over the poor progress and implementation of Central schemes.
