Governor reviews development works in Baksa dist

MUSHALPUR, March 24 - In a continuous process of reviewing development works in various districts of the State, Governor Banwarilal Purohit visited Baksa today and took stock of the development activities from the high officials of all the departments at Bathoupuri here.

He also held discussions with various socio-political and student organisations.

In a separate discussion with media-persons, the Governor expressed his satisfaction over the ongoing development works in Baksa and praised the district administration for it.

He added that the Central government has given top priority to the development of Assam and other States of the Northeast and the region will soon reap its benefits.

Regarding the failure of previous State government to utilise Central fund properly, the Governor said that the previous State government had lethargic attitude. The new government has taken steps for timely and proper utilisation of Central funds, he added.

The Governor also highlighted the tourism potential of Assam in terms of natural biodiversity, rich culture, spirituality, hospitality and employment avenues it could create. Purohit also urged the media fraternity to hold fast to media ethics.

The Governor also addressed a public meeting on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also took part in a cleanliness drive at Mushalpur town.
