Governor praises Assamese cuisine

GUWAHATI, Jan 11 � Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik said he considers Assamese food as the best food because of its simplicity. The Governor was inaugurating the Mega Food Festival (inset photo), organised by the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, of here, on Friday.

The Governor said the Vedic people in the ancient time long for a hundred-year-long life ged and they prayed that in such a long life their capacities to hear, see and speak should remain intact even after their becoming old.

�It is not the exotic food, but the simple food generally taken by the Assamese people, which is important for maintaining good health,� he said, adding, what is important is that food should be healthy without much spice and chilly. It must be well cooked and served with great affection and love.

A book on �Ethnic Food & Culture of Assam�, compiled by the Institute of Hotel Management Guwahati was also released by the Governor at for countywide distribution to create awareness about healthy food.
