Governor, GMC contribute to CM�s relief fund

GUWAHATI, April 2 - Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi today contributed one month�s gross salary amounting to Rs 3,50,000 to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund to support the Assam government�s relief operations against the coronavirus outbreak.

The Governor�s Principal Private Secretary SN Bhowmick handed over the cheque to the Chief Minister in the latter�s office chamber at Janata Bhawan on behalf of the Governor.

Governor Mukhi also appealed to all to contribute generously to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund and also to extend support to the government for maintaining social distancing and showing solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s call for a nationwide lockdown to break the vicious chain of infection induced by the novel coronavirus.

GMC contribution: Meanwhile, Guwahati Municipal Corporation Commissioner Debajyoti Hazarika along with the convener of the four workers unions Chandan Sharma, today handed over a cheque worth Rs 19,48,915 � which is one day�s salary of all officers, staff and workers of GMC � to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund to check the spread of novel coronavirus.
