Governor for proper implementation of schemes

DIPHU, March 1 � Governor PB Acharya joined the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme organised by the Karbi Anglong district administration at Gandhi Park here recently.

After completion of the programme, the Governor discussed various issues with the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Executive Members of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and heads of government departments at the Circuit House.

He also inquired about the implementation of Centre-sponsored development schemes in the district. In the developmental review meeting, the Governor called for the proper implementation of all the development schemes of the Central Government.

Acharya also held a meeting with bankers and took stock of the financial inclusion drive, Jan Dhan Yojana. Interacting with the bankers, he urged them to take extensive steps on the scheme.

Later, the Governor visited the Diphu Jail, Diphu Press Club office, Diphu campus of the Assam University and the newly-constructed home for destitute children under the Social Welfare Department. He asked the district administration to take prompt measures on pending cases for settlement.

During his visit to the Assam University campus, the Governor discussed the problems of the university with the teachers and faculty members.

Later, he interacted with senior citizens and took stock of the different problems faced by the people in the district. He urged them to form a committee and use their experience in social building activities. A cheque for Rs 21,000 was given to them for the functioning of the organisation. Besides, sums of Rs 21,000 each were provided to Ambika Pradhan and the Diphu Press Club. The Governor admired Ambika for her services towards orphans.

The Governor assured to resolve problems during his tenure.
