By CORRESPONDENT

ITANAGAR, Nov 21 - Currently on an official tour to the national capital, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) today called on Union Minister of State (independent charge) for Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel to discuss things pertaining to promotion and harnessing of the tourism potential in the State.

The Governor, while highlighting the vast tourism potential of Arunachal Pradesh, drew the attention of the Union Minister towards the need to exploit the vast tourism potential of the State, particularly ecotourism, adventure tourism and cultural tourism.

Mishra informed that along with vibrant indigenous faiths, the State has many important religious places which are mentioned in ancient religious scripts. He said that the Hindu pilgrimage centre, Parshuram Kund, situated at Telu Shati/Tailung area of the Mishmi plateau in the lower reaches of the Lohit river, needs to be developed for pilgrims who come from different parts of the country and abroad.

The Governor suggested early finalisation of the Parshuram Kund project to enable local youths to get self-employment opportunities and enhance the economy of the State.

Mishra pointed out that with the opening of the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Setu by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017, the Parshuram Kund projects would immensely promote tourism in eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

The Union minister, while appreciating the importance of tourism activities in Arunachal, assured the Governor to expedite the tourism projects in the State.
