Governor, CM urged to take urgent steps

GUWAHATI, Aug 4 � Prof Bhim Singh, chairman, National Panthers Party and member, National Integration Council, called on the Assam Governor Janaki Ballav Patnaik, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, High Court Bar Association president, Ram Saikia in Guwahati after his three-day visit to strife-torn areas of Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Chirang etc, a press release said.

The NPP chairman urged the Governor and Chief Minister to take urgent measures to ensure return and rehabilitation of both Bodos and Muslims. He told the Government of Assam that the unhygienic conditions in the relief camps are highly pathetic. He informed the Governor and the Chief Minister that all the developmental works have come to standstill because the local people who were working as labourers have run away to the relief camps. The Government shall be doing a great service to the people if they can ensure local security in the conflict-ridden villages, he said and added that the people in the relief camps, both Bodos and Muslims, were demanding adequate security and rehabilitation.

The president of the High Court Bar Association, and the office bearers welcomed Prof Singh�s visit to the High Court. Prof Bhim Singh presented his book, �Around the World on Motorcycle on Peace Mission� to the president of the Bar Association.

Prof Singh also presented his book to the Chief Minister at his residence.
