GUWAHATI, May 9 � Governor JB Patnaik today told a delegation of the Sanmilita Janagosthiya Sangram Samiti, Assam (SJSSA) that nobody, irrespective of his or her being even a Minister, would be spared if he or she is found to be in possession of illegal arms.
Revealing the above statement of the Governor, the SJSSA said in a press release that the Governor also informed its delegation that necessary directions have been issued by the Raj Bhawan to the Home Department and Director General of Police in this respect. The Governor appealed to the people to extend cooperation to the administration in seizing the illegal arms, said the Sangram Samiti.
Members of the Sangram Samiti today staged a three-hour sit-in demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan here demanding stringent punishment to those involved in the latest Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) genocide, review of the BTC Accord and seizure of illegal arms, among others.
