HAFLONG, June 11 - Debolal Gorlosa has been elected Chief Executive Member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) unopposed today at the session presided over by Protem Chairman Suanthangjem Hrangkhol.

Talking to media-persons after assuming office, Gorlosa assured that the problems being faced by the employees of the Council will be settled on a priority basis. He also said that there have been leakages in the system of revenue collection, which would be properly monitored from now on.

Asked about the road communication woes in the district, Gorlosa stated that his administration will accord top priority to early completion of the road construction works, which would be strictly monitored. He further said that Dima Hasao, as a whole, has been facing multifarious problems, but his administration is committed to work for the well-being of all the people living in the district.

Gorlosa, 32, is the second youngest CEM of the Council. Prakanta Warisa, who had assumed the office of CEM on June 20, 1996, at the age of 31, remains the youngest CEM ever in the district.

Recently elected BJP MLA BB Hagjer, former CEMs Debojeet Thaosen and Niranjan Hojai, and the MACs congratulated Gorlosa on being elected the new CEM.

Meanwhile, Dilip Nunisa, in a message to the media sent on behalf of the Dimaraji Foundation and the Dimaraji Wah Society, expressed his satisfaction over the election of Gorlosa and hoped that the process of development will gain momentum in the district.

Several organisations of Dima Hasao and conscious citizens also congratulated the new CEM and hoped that the Council would remain stable to be able to work for overall development of the district.
