GOSSAIGAON, March 3 - The Gossaigaon district Goria Moria Deshi Jatiya Parishad�s third special conference was held at Joyma near Gossaigaon on March 1.
In the open meeting held under the presidentship of Abul Hussain, the president of the Parishad, Azizur Rahman, general secretary of the central committee explained that Gorias and Morias had come from Gour and the first man of this community to get converted to Islam was Ali Mech, who may be regarded as the first Assamese Muslim.
This baptisation had occurred in early 1205 AD. The chief guest Mrityunjoy Narzary, EM, BTC, stated that those who had been residing in the BTC, need not worry about their settlement as all of them are citizens of BTC.
