Goof-up by AHSEC

By STAFF Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 2 - After SEBA, the Assam Higher Secondary Educational Council (AHSEC) has also goofed up by showing generosity in according marks for a subject to a candidate who did not appear it in the first place.

The goof-up came to light when Arnab Kapil, a student of Cotton College who secured the ninth position in the Science stream of HSSLC examination, disclosed that he got 94 marks in the subject Mathematics, despite the fact that he didnt appear in the examination.

Arnab informed the Council office on May 31, as soon as we got the details of the marks. Accordingly a notification was published by the Council in the newspaper on June 1, Arnabs father Ronen Sarma told The Assam Tribune.

However, the notification was also not free from flaws. It mentioned Arnab securing eighth position in the exam, instead of his actual position which is ninth. However, his position has remained intact in order of merit, even after correction of marks.

After another correction of marks, Dayita Pushpa Swami of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Silchar has been upgraded to the eighth position in the merit list in the Science stream.
