Good response to passport camp at Silchar

SILCHAR, Jan 18 - The two-day special passport camp organized by the Regional Passport Office, Guwahati which began here at the Public Facilitation Centre on the office premises of the Deputy Commissioner Cachar on Saturday received good response with the officials processing as many as 150 applications.

Dulal Sutradhar, Deputy Passport Officer from the Regional Passport office said that the special camp was organized in Silchar for the first time to provide passports to the applicants at their �doorsteps�.

There were both fresh applicants as well as those who came for their passports to be reissued and we are happy to see such a turnout and hope that the camp proceedings will be wrapped up without any major disturbance.� He thanked the district administration for arranging the high speed internet facilities necessary for activities during the camp.

It is to be mentioned that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj during her recent visit here had promised the people of Barak Valley to set up a regional passport office at Silchar.
