GUWAHATI, Sept 20 - A team representing the National Environmental Protection Awareness Campaign 2019 which started on August 15 from the historic Shiva Dol in Sivasagar under the leadership of Basant Gogoi, president ATASU Kamrup (M) District Committee, Monya Bamey, advisor to Guwahati Galo Students� Union representing the state of Arunachal Pradesh and Vinoto Shohe of Nagaland Students� Union Chandigarh unit representing Nagaland, reached the national capital Delhi on Thursday after covering a distance of 16,315 kilometres, said a press release issued here today.
The team which is on a nationwide environment awareness mission, has already covered Sikkim, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Goa, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
The team members submitted memorandums with the theme �Tree plantation and conservation: the need of the hour� to all the chief ministers, forest ministers and governors of the states they have visited so far. They distributed more than fifty thousand leaflets (including English and Hindi) as part of the mission, the release said.
According to Gogoi, the self-funding mission has received very good response from all the places they have visited so far. The team visited Aarey Forest in Mumbai and spent one night with the adivasi people there.
