Good Governance Day observed in Sonitpur, Kalaigaon

TEZPUR, Dec 26 - Along with the rest of the nation, Good Governance Day was centrally observed in Sonitpur district at Gabharu Block Development Office on Friday. Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Diganta Baishya, District Accounts Officer Prakash Bora, Inspector of Schools Prabhat Das, CDPO Rubi Kalita, DPM, ASRLM, M Alam, Anchalik Panchayat president Rekha Baruah, social workers Naba Sarma, Amitabh Saikia, Jayanta Bora and others were present in the meeting held on the occasion.

It may be noted that in memory of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, his birthday which falls on December 25, is being observed as Good Governance Day every year since 2015. As part of the official itinerary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s address to all the farmers of the nation was broadcast. Similar programmes were also held in all Block-level offices in the presence of farmers and other guests.

IN KALAIGAON: The 96th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also celebrated at Kalaigaon in Udalguri district on December 25 as Good Governance Day, our Correspondent adds.

The programme was held at the meeting hall of the office of the Revenue Circle Officer, Kalaigaon at 11 am and organised by the Block Development Office under DRDA, Darrang.

Runav Ramchiary,Circle Officer of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle-cum-BDO incharge of Kalaigaon Development Block inaugurated the programme with floral tributes before a portrait of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

She also spoke on the importance of observing Good Governance Day with special reference to the nationwide celebration of 96th birth anniversary of the late Indian Prime Minister.

It may be mentioned that live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s release of an amount of Rs 18,000 crore for 9,000 crore farming families of India under the PM�s Kisan Scheme was shown live in the meeting.The programme was addressed by Dhiren Deka, ADO of Darrang and Imtajul Islam of Tengabari Gaon Panchayat.

A number of distinguished personalities, namely social worker Kami Ram Saharia, Mayuri Khatun, president of Syamtil Anchalik Panchayat Kamal Prasad Sarma, mouzadar of Kalaigaon etc., among others, attended the programme.
