TEZPUR, June 17 � The three day-long concluding programme of golden jubilee celebration of Tezpur Sahitya Sabha gets under way from today.
It may be mentioned that Tezpur Sahitya Sabha has been observing the year-long golden jubilee function since June 20, 2014.
The first day of the programme was marked with a quiz competition based on the issues of literature and Asam Sahitya Sabha. The quiz competition was conducted by vice president of Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, Hemanta Kumar Baruah. It was followed by an oration programme, �Role of Asam Sahitya Sabha in creating new writer� and �Importance of mother tongue in primary level�. In this competition the first position was bagged by Rodali Sarma of Darrang College, while the second and the third position were bagged respectively by Manash Pratim Sarmah of Sonitpur Jatya Vidyalaya and Diksita Sarma of Tezpur Government Girls� School.
Rich tributes were paid to Jyoti Prasad Agarwala to mark his 112th birth anniversary. The president of the Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, Dr Suresh Kumar Arya started the august occasion by paying floral tribute in the statue of the Rup Konwar at Tezpur Sahitya Sabha campus.
The next day�s programme includes release of English version of Lakshminath Bezbarua�s story Junuka and a compilation of article by noted writer Mrinali Chetia, Bivinna Kothar Kanon by the president of the apex literary body Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora. The souvenir Silalipi will be released by DC, Lalit Gogoi.
