Golden jubilee of Paschim Dhemaji HS

DHEMAJI, March 21 � The golden jubilee celebration of Ghuguha Doul ME School and the Paschim Dhemaji High School which were established in 1958 and 1965 respectively in the same campus in the West Dhemaji area will be held from tomorrow with a three-day programme.

The celebration committee constituted in this connection with BDO Narendra Kr Paw as president, retired headmaster Phuleswar Boruah as working president and headmaster Nilambar Gogoi as secretary with 12 other subcommittees has completed all the preparations.

As per the schedule, the celebration will begin with a cleanliness drive at 7 am, to be followed by inauguration of the main memorial permanent gate. At 9 am the flag on the occasion will be hoisted by Narendra Kumar Paw, president of the celebration committee which will be followed by smriti tarpan. At 10.30 am a plantation drive will be initiated by Nandeswar Gogoi, retired headmaster, Ghuguha MV School. Thereafter, the exhibition on the occasion will be inaugurated by Dr Jugal Saikia, principal, North Bank College, Ghilamara. The book releasing ceremony will be held at noon where Siva Prasad Gogoi, retired principal, Dhakuakhana College will inaugurate the souvenir while headmaster Bolin Borgohain will inaugurate a few other books. A get-together of the ex- students, teachers and workers will be held at 1 pm.

The second day�s programme will start with an interaction meet with innovator Uddhav Bharali by the students at 9 am. An educational seminar will be held at noon. It will be inaugurated by Phatik Doley, Inspector of Schools, Dhemaji. The seminar to be conducted by Dr Kamal Gogoi, principal, Moridhal College, will be participated by retired professors Amiya Handique, Jiten Borpatra Gohain and Dr Arabinda Rajkhowa, professor, North Lakhimpur College.

In the evening the cultural function to be organised on the occasion will be inaugurated by Ajit Kumar Bordoloi, Deputy Commissioner, Dhemaji.

On the third and concluding day, a colourful cultural procession will be taken out at 9 am which will be flagged off by Jiten Das, Cultural Officer, Dhemaji. The open session of the golden jubilee celebration will be held at 12 noon. Dr Dayananda Borgohain, retired professor, Moran College and the president of Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha will inaugurate the open meeting. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will grace the open session as the chief guest while State Education Minister Sarat Borkataky and State Minister Sumitra Patir will grace it as guests of honour. On the other hand, Bipul Chandra Kalita, noted litterateur, Guwahati and Dr Buddhindra Boruah, retired principal, Dhemaji College, will take part in the meeting as appointed speakers. The cultural night in the evening will be inaugurated by Mainul Islam Mandal, Superintendent of Police, Dhemaji. The celebration committee has solicited the presence and cooperation of all the people to make the golden jubilee celebration a grand success.
