KALAIGAON, Dec 7 - Established in 1953, Samalabari LP School at No. 2 Kalaigaon is one of the oldest LP schools at Kalaigaon. Great Sarvodaya and Bhudan leader Acharya Vinoba Bhabe and other top social and political leaders of post independence Assam namely, Bimala Prasad Chaliha, CM, Assam, noted Gandhian Amal Prava Das, freedom fighter late Pani Ram Das etc., had camped in this school on several occasions in the 1960s for social welfare missions. Former students, teachers, guardians, well wishers, are all set to celebrate its golden jubilee in a colourful manner on January 27, 28 and 29, 2017.
A public meeting was held recently at the school premises and a �Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee� was formed with Sanjay Kumar Tanti as president, Krishna Kanta Boro as working president and Bishnu Deb Sarma as secretary. The meeting also decided to publish a souvenir on the occasion.
