Golden jubilee of JHNS College ends

AMGURI, Oct 9 � The closing ceremony of the golden jubilee celebration of Jhanji Hem Nath Sarma College, concluded recently.

The JHNS College is the only institution of higher education in the greater Jhanji region and was established on July 25, 1964.

The first day�s programme started with the hoisting of golden jubilee flag by Dr Giasuddin Ahmed, the working president of the celebration committee. Fifty special guests closely associated with the college, hoisted fifty flags along with the flag hoisted by the working president. It was followed by the smriti tarpan formally offered by Prabhat Ch Borthakur, vice-principal, Nazira College. The other programmes includes plantation, opening of exhibitions, book-fares, inauguration of new canteen building and digital classroom, administrative building, commerce building etc. This was followed by a felicitation and book release function was presided over by retd principal Bijoy Sharma.

A discourse on �Youth empowerment: problems and challenges�, was inaugurated by Dr Kamalmalla Buzorboruah, VC, Assam Agriculture University, Jorhat. Dr Rupam Saikia, Director, College Development Council, Dr Rajib Handique, Associated Prof History, GU Dr Jyoti Prasad Saikia, Sociology, DU all participated in the discourse as the speakers. The speakers explained the subject and suggested how to face the problems and the challenges.
