Golden jubilee of Dhenukhana Boys� HS School

DHEMAJI, Jan 20 � The Dhenukhana Boys� High School, one of the premier higher educational institutions in West Machkhowa area under Dhakuakhana subdivision, established in 1964 at Batamari and the Dhenukhana ME School, established earlier in the same campus in 1954 are going to celebrate their golden jubilee jointly from tomorrow with a three-day programme.

In this connection, a golden jubilee celebration committee has been constituted with retired founder headmaster, Dipti Kumar Saikia as the president, retired headmaster Dibakar Saikia as the working president and Phulendra Nath Gogoi and Kamal Boruah as the secretaries. Seventeen other sub-committees have also been constituted.

The celebrations will begin tomorrow with the flag hoisting at by Dipti Kumar Saikia, president, golden jubilee celebration committee. It will be followed by a tree plantation programme to be initiated by retired teacher Padma Nath Saikia. Smriti tarpan will be initiated by Dibakar Saikia, working president, celebration committee. Hereafter, the main gate to mark the golden jubilee celebration of the two schools will be inaugurated by Moina Chetia, an established trader of Dhemaji. It will be followed by the inauguration of a permanent water supply scheme by Dr Mukta Saikia, ex-student and ADC, Kamrup Metro, Guwahati.

An exhibition will later be opened by retired headmaster Sarat Saikia which will be followed by a discussion on education to be conducted by another retired headmaster Tarun Patir. It will be inaugurated by retired professor Dr Chandra Nath Boruah. In the evening, a cultural function to be organised on the occasion will be inaugurated by journalist Purna Kanta Chinte.

On the second day at 9 am Sonali Subas, the souvenir of the golden jubilee celebration will be unveiled. It will be followed by a felicitation ceremony of the ex-students, teachers and employees of the two schools along with a get together meet of them. The meet to be conducted by Dr Ranjit Saikia will be inaugurated by retired headmaster Lokendra Nath Gogoi. In the evening, a cultural nite will be organised which will be inaugurated by Gandhesh Kumar Saikia, former student and Sub-Divisional officer (SDO Civil), Udalguri.

On the third and concluding day, a colourful cultural procession will be taken out. The open meeting of the golden jubilee celebration will be at noon. It will be inaugurated by Debashis Baishya, SDO (Civil), Dhakuakhana subdivision. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is scheduled to attend the open meeting as chief guest while local MLA Sumitra Patir and Naba Kr Doley, Prasanna Bora, Inspector of Schools, Lakhimpur District Circle, Dr Jugal Saikia, principal, North Bank College, Prabhat Das, DEEO, Lakhimpur District, Rajib Doley, BEEO, Dhakuakhana will attend the meeting as distinguished guests.

On the other hand, Dineswar Gogoi associate professor, North Bank College will attend the same as appointed speaker. Retired professor Amiya Kr Handique, retired head master Dimbeswar Chetia, Dr Ranjan Gogoi, principal Padmeswar Saikia, Lankeswar Chiring, Golap Gohain and Haren Gogoi will also be present in the meeting as invited guests.
