Golden jubilee of Dainik Asam celebrated

BONGAIGAON, Aug 10 - A meeting was organised on Saturday at the Railway Institute Auditorium, Old Colony, in Bongaigaon to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Dainik Asam newspaper, which has completed successful 50 years rendering intellectual service to the people of the state.

The meeting was chaired by social worker Lakkhi Kanta Ray. Addressing the gathering, social worker Dr Firoz Ahmed said, �Dainik Asam is the quality product of The Assam Tribune group by which �Singha purush Radha Govinda Baruah� had initiated a new age in the history of newspapers in the state.�

Distinguished guest Mukunda Sarma also highlighted the contribution of Dainik Asam in the history of vernacular newspapers of the state.

Lakkhi Kanta Ray said that the style used by the Dainik Asam publishing newsitems cannot be compared with any other newspaper in the state.

An art competition for the school children was also organised before the meeting.

Munin Bayan, executive editor of the Dainik Asam, P G Goswami, development officer of the Assam Tribune newspaper group, Dugdha Ram Kalita, secretary, Assam Tribune Employees� Union, Jainal Abedin, circulation manager of The Assam Tribune and Bhaskar Das, circulation manager of the Dainik Asam, were present in the meeting.

The local agents associated with the Assam Tribune newspaper group and some eminent personalities were also felicitated in the meeting.
