GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - On his first day in office, former Chief Minister of Assam Golap Borbora had made education free for all till Class X and for girls till Class XII. The College Students Welfare Committee (CSWC) commemorates this initiative through its scholarship programme.
�The CSWC�Golap Borbora Scholarship Programme shall extend full financial assistance with regard to tuition fees towards meritorious students. Two scholarship awards will be given in the 2018-19 scholarship cycle,� informed Abhinav Borbora, president CSWC. Interested candidates can download the application form from the www.cswcommittee.com, stated a press release.
In order to maintain qualitative standards in the selection process, the scholarship programme is processed by an external selection committee constituted by the organisation. The selection committee comprises Padma Shree awardee Ajoy Kr Dutta, Dr Ajanta Khaund Bezbaruah, Dr Nanigopal Mahanta, Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Prof Rajib Kr Das, Ramani Barman and Dr Sabrina Iqbal Sircar.
Selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in the Higher Secondary examination along with the scores obtained in the essay that needs to be provided with the application form and an interview that will be conducted by members of the selection committee.
Last year, the CSWC�Golap Borbora Scholarship was awarded to Moidul Islam of Cotton University and Pushpa Shukla of Handique Girls� College, who are studying Political Science and Economics respectively, the release added.
