Golakganj Sahitya Sabha meet

GAURIPUR, Jan 21 - The 19th biennial meet of the Golakganj Sahitya Sabha was held recently on the premises of the Chinmayee Girls' ME School with a day-long programme.

In the morning, Niren Shil, president of the branch hoisted the flag of the Sahitya Sabha, which was followed by smriti tarpan by Renu Rava Das Hazarika, ex-president of the Sabha. The Sabha also paid homage to Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla on his death anniversary. The Sabha also offered floral tributes to the ex-presidents and life-members. An art competition was also organised on the occasion.

The open session held in the afternoon was chaired by Naren Shil and was addressed by invited guests including Abul Husain Sk, president, district Sahitya Sabha, Ambu Nath Sharma, Hemlata Kakati, Principal, Chilarai College, Golakganj. Earlier, Sabita Rani Prodhani, a well-known social activist released the souvenir, Shimanta Sikha. A new 17-member executive body was formed with Niren Shil, Debaprasad Singha, Puspa Debnath, Nagen Ray and Abdul Hai Prodhani as the president, secretary and vice-presidents repectively. At the end, Debaprasad Singha offered the vote of thanks.
