Golakganj AASU to celebrate Rongali Bihu

GAURIPUR, April 12 - The Golakganj unit of the All Assam Students� Union will celebrate Rongali Bihu with a two-day programme on April 22 and 23 at the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Mukali Mancha at the premises of Golakganj Dev Block.

On April 22 Dhruba Dutta, Ppresident of the unit will hoist the flag of the students� body, followed by swahid tarpan by Samir Rava, secretary, Bihu flag will be hoisted by Pulakesh Ray Bepari, organising secretary of the AASU. An interaction among the sufferers of the Assam Movement will also be held . A number of competitions, including Rajbangshi Maina, Bihu konwari, Bihu Pari, Rajbangshi Kaina will also be held. Dr Upendrajit Sharma, president of Dhubri Dist Sahitya Sabha will inaugurate the Mukali Bihu. The prize distribution meeting will be held on April 23 and a large number of dignatories are inivted to address the meeting. The cultural evening wil be opened by Laba Kumar Ray, president of the district unit of AASU.

Biswanath Chariali Correspondent adds: The Pabhoi unit of AASU organized a 10-day Bihu workshop at Balichang along Assam-Arunachal border that concluded successfully today. Training on Bihu dance and the playing of Dhol was imparted to the participants by experts Shantanu Bharali, Mantumani Borkataki and Trishna Das. Around 100 participants representing different communities of the area took part in the programme. The concluding programme was conducted by Jintu Borah, general secretary of Pabhoi AASU while social worker Hari Prasad Sharma presided over the concluding function. AASU�s central assistant secretary Duldul Borkataki, Sonitpur District AASU assistant secretary Ajmat Sheikh, social workers Ratneswar Mahanta, Kushal Borah, Prabhat Hazarika, Niju Sharma Borah, Hemanta Sona, among others, were present on the occasion.
