Golaghat woman declared foreigner by Jorhat FT

JORHAT, June 12 - The Jorhat District Foreigners� Tribunal on Tuesday declared Dolly Roy, a resident of Ward number 4 of Golaghat town as a foreigner.

Roy was thereafter sent to the deisignated detention camp, which is Central Jail Jorhat for people declared foreigners by the Jorhat Tribunal.

Jailor (In-charge) of Central Jail, Jorhat, Firdus Rahman, confirmed to The Assam Tribune that Dolly was lodged at the detention camp of the jail after the Tribunal declared her a foreigner.

A source in the Tribunal said that Roy was declared foreigner ex-parte as she reportedly failed to appear before the Tribunal three times consecutively.

However, the family members of Roy told mediapersons in Golaghat today that Roy did not receive any notice from the Tribunal to appear before the legal body.

They (family members) stated that are likely to appeal against the Tribunal order in a higher body.

Roy, wife of Sanjib Roy, reportedly hails from Barpeta district.
