Golaghat win U-15 I-D cricket title

GUWAHATI, Jan 3 � By virtue of 17-run first innings lead Golaghat clinched the title in the U-15 Amarjit Sarma Trophy Inter District Cricket Tournament.

The two-day final match between Golaghat and Lakhimpur ended in a draw at the NFRSA Stadium today.

In the first innings Golaghat, resuming at the overnight total of 129 for eight, were all out for 134 and took a thin but vital 17-run first innings lead.

In the second innings Lakhimpur scored 131 and set a winning target of 115 for Golaghat. But the Lakhimpur bowlers Hrishikesh Bora (4/25) and Jitumoni Kalita (4/24) put Golaghat in trouble as they lost eight wickets for 54 in 21 overs when stumps were finally drawn.

Hrishikesh Bora (Lakhimpur) was adjudged man-of-the-final while Munna Narah (Lakhimpur) and Yasif Ansari (Golaghat) were selected as best batsman and best bowler respectively.

In the closing function Bhaben Talukder, ex-player, Zaved Zaman, ex-Ranji player, Riazul Haque, ex-Ranji player, mdad Hussain, asst secy, ACA, Subrajit Saikia, director Assam Cricket Academy, gave away the prizes.
