DERGAON, April 7 - In a significant development, the residents of upper Assam�s Golaghat district have prayed for the well-being of the medical staff who are fighting against the corona pandemic.
With a total of 9 COVID-19 positive cases, Golaghat district has become the corona hotspot in the North East India as no other district has attained that number of positive cases.
All the 9 positive patients and another 50 persons who were in contact with the positive people, have been quarantined at Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital for the last 9 days. During the treatment, starting from collection of samples to taking care of them, a large number of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are rendering their services.
Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Ch Modi said that a total of 38 medical surveillance teams are on duty as on Tuesday with a cumulative 1041 teams.
As the out-patients department (OPD) has been closed due to the corona outbreak, people have are facing a lot of difficulties in case of minor diseases.
The residents here have offered their sincere gratitude to the staff who are engaged in the treatment of the COVID-19 patients without thinking about themselves and their families.
Ratneswar Hazarika, the headmaster of Wokha Christan LP School at Matikhola in Golaghat district said that the persons engaged in the treatment of the patients and other people should be encouraged by us on the day of the World Health Day today.
�As they are doing their task by risking their lives, so we should pray to the Almighty for their safety in all respects,� he said.
Asfia Begum, a resident of Naharani Dergaon said that the doctors are next to God and they should be supported by us for their noble deeds in these tough times.
�We also pray to the Almighty for their all-round safety as without their safety we will never be safe,� she said.
