Golaghat ready to receive Indo-Asean car rally

DERGAON, Dec 9 � The Golaghat district administration is all set to receive the Indo-Asean car rally at Numaligarh. The second Indo-Asean car rally started in Jakarta of Indonesia on November 26 and will arrive at Golaghat on December 16 after passing through Nagaland and Manipur.

According to the schedule, the team of representatives of 12 countries of Asia including India will be ceremonially received by Golaghat district administration at NRL township. The administration is ready to welcome the car rally that is coming to the North-East for the second time after 2004. According information, the team including 43 members of India will be escorted after entering the district with tight security to the township of NRL around 11 am on December 16. The team will be welcomed by the DC Sanjib Gohain Baruah on behalf of Golaghat district administration. A cultural programme has also been arranged at the site where Bihu and Jhumur will be presented before the team comprising the representatives of Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos, Myanmar, Combodia, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and India. The team will take their lunch at the site.

On the other hand, three welcome gates at Tengani, NRL and Numaligarh Tinali on NH-39 and several hoardings have been erected to welcome the rally. It is pertinent to mention that the rally will arrive at Manipur on December 15 and then will proceed to Assam through Dimapur, Bokajan and then Karbi Anglong. The rally then will move to Guwahati and will end on December 17 at Sarusajai.
