Gokulam to play BSF in ID Cup final today

NAGAON, Oct 22 - The final match of the ongoing 71th Independence Day Cup Football Tournament will be played under flood lights here at the Nurul Amin Stadium tomorrow.

The final match will kick start at 4-30 pm.

Gokulam, Kerala FC, in their maiden appearance in the championship, will lock horns with BSF Jallandhar in the summit clash.

In the last quarterfinal league matches played today, the Kerala outfit rallied to play 2-2 draw against ASEB Sports Club, Guwahati while the team from Jallandhar edged past Oil India Football Club, Duliajan by a solitary goal.

In the well contested day�s first match between ASEB SC and Gokulam, Kerala was ended with a tie and the Kerala outfit confirmed their place in the final. ASEB went ahead through Akrang Narjary in the 42nd minute and in the second half Sujalal Brahma scored the second goal to give ASEB 2-0 lead. But making a tremendous fightback Zola reduced the margin in the second session and finally Jihad Hasan fired the equaliser in the dying minutes of the match.

In the second match of the day under lights, BSF Jallandhar downed the Duliajan team by the barest of margin. It was also a well contested encounter where the cops utilised the opportunity came their way in the 55th minute of the match.

After a barren first session the former champions BSF put pressure on the opponent and created a scoring opportunity. Ph Boy Singh fired the match winning goal which sealed the fate of the final quarterfinal league match. By virtue of the victory the BSF team confirmed their place in the final.
