GUWAHATI, May 20 - Following the defeat of his party in the Assembly elections, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi submitted his resignation letter to Governor PB Acharya at the Raj Bhawan here this evening.
Earlier, the Chief Minister held the last meeting of his Cabinet at his Koinadhara official residence here.
At the meeting, which was a very brief one, the decision to submit the resignation of the Chief Minister, on behalf of the State Government he is leading, was adopted, sources said.
Raj Bhawan sources told this newspaper that upon receiving Gogoi�s resignation letter, Governor Acharya asked him to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister �till the new ministry is sworn in�.
