Gogoi reviews progress of Budget schemes

GUWAHATI, Sept 29 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi reviewed the progress of implementation of various schemes as announced in this year�s Budget with the ministers and senior officials of the departments of agriculture, WPT & BC, cooperation, cultural affairs and sports and youth welfare at his official residence here yesterday.

According to an official press release, the Chief Minister directed the Minister for Agriculture, WPT & BC Pramila Rani Brahma and Minister for Cultural Affairs, Cooperation and Sports and Youth Welfare Bharat Chandra Narah and officials concerned to leave no stone unturned to implement all the schemes announced in this year�s Budget by December next.

Gogoi underlined the need for according top priority to small, marginal and landless farmers of the State. He instructed the Agriculture Department to complete the process of distribution of 756 power tillers to small and marginal farmers at 75 per cent subsidy, involving an amount of Rs 20 crore, besides Rs 3,000 cash assistance per head to 2 lakh small and marginal farmers by December.

The Chief Minister also asked the Department to initiate steps to form the welfare society for the farmers.

He asked the Cultural Affairs Minister and the officials of his department to expedite the process for setting up the State Institute of Drama, Institute for Research and Documentation of History of the Indigenous People of North East, Jyoti Bishnu Cultural University, Assam Sangeet Academy as announced in the Budget.

The Chief Minister also discussed in detail about raising a corpus fund of Rs 2 crore for Jyoti Chitraban.
