Gogoi recovering

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, who underwent bypass and heart valve replacement surgeries in the Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai yesterday, is showing signs of speedy recovery.

An official release said here today that Gogoi was taken off the ventilator at around 11 pm yesterday and he is on liquid diet from this evening. He is communicating normally and is feeling comfortable, the release said.

The release said that Gogoi has no complaint of any pain and started his physiotherapy exercises from today. His vital parameters are stable and he is under close observation of a team of doctors headed by Dr RK Panda.

The official release said that Gogoi would be kept in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for four to five days more days. He will be kept in the hospital for 10 to 12 days and will be able to take over his duties in four weeks from now, the release added.
