GUWAHATI, Aug 23 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has urged the NDA Government at the Centre to settle the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP) expeditiously and within a time-frame.

In a statement, Gogoi said, �It is shameful for the nation that our war heroes have to resort to fast-unto-death and then humiliated by the police personnel.�

Gogoi urged the Prime Minister to implement OROP to uphold pride, prestige and morale of the war heroes.

It may be mentioned that retired servicemen have been demanding equal pension to them retiring at the same rank, regardless of when they retire.
