Guwahati, June 4 (PTI): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today congratulated

two teams from the state which successfully scaled the 6189 meter

Island Peak in the Nepal Himalayas.

The first team, led by Manash Barooah and the second by Nandadulal

Das, were both part of a Pre-Everest Expedition sponsored by the

state government.

The first five-member team reached the summit on June 2 and the

second team comprising six members reached yesterday, according to

a government release.

The Chief Minister said success of the two teams reflected the adventurous

spirit of the youth and hoped the mountaineers who successfully conquered
