GUWAHATI, Aug 29 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s Gujarat model of development which has been marred by the intense agitation launched by the Patel community in that State.
In a statement, Gogoi said the agitation by the Patel community, which is explicably better than other communities in Gujarat, for reservation in jobs and education, exposed the resentment among that community of Gujarat. The Chief Minister said, �The movement led by Hardik Patel exposes the anger and frustration of the younger generation of Gujarat and bears testimony to the hollowness of the Gujarat model of development.�
Gogoi said the sluggish development of the education sector and its consequent reflection on the lack of job opportunities are exposed by the agitation of the Patel community. If an economically and politically powerful community like the Patel is on the warpath demanding reservation, the condition of the other communities in Gujarat can very well be surmised, Gogoi added.
