Gogoi calls up Bihar CM over train mishap

GUWAHATI, June 25 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today requested his Bihar counterpart Jitan Ram Manjhi to render free medical treatment to the injured passengers of the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, which derailed at Chapra in Bihar in the wee hours today, killing at least four passengers and injuring several others, said an official press release here.

In a telephonic talk with Manjhi in the morning, Gogoi requested him to take all possible steps to provide free medical treatment to the injured passengers and to make arrangements for transportation of the stranded passengers to Guwahati.

Gogoi also requested the Central Government to raise the ex-gratia from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the mishap.

The Chief Minister extended his sincerest condolences to the members of the bereaved families and prayed for speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
