Gogoi accuses Centre of political vendetta

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, July 10 - Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has termed the Centres decision to conduct a probe into three Nehru-Gandhi family-linked trusts, including the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, as an example of political vendetta.

The Modi governments decision is nothing but a political vendetta. Besides, it is a diversionary tactic to hide the governments own failures at a time when the Indian economy has virtually collapsed, crores of people have lost their jobs and livelihoods, prices of essential commodities have shot up and there is unchecked spread of novel coronavirus due to the governments whimsical and unplanned decisions. The government has failed to deal with the situation in the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to check the Chinese incursion. Moreover, in dealing with neighbouring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives, our diplomacy has not yielded any positive result, said Gogoi.

He alleged that RSS, the Vivekananda Foundation, the India Foundation and the Overseas Friends of BJP also received funds from foreign agencies.

It is well known that the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and the Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust have been rendering services for the welfare of the common people of the country. People of India are intelligent enough to see the ulterior motives of the BJP government, said the senior Congress leader.
