Goat camp

SIVASAGAR, April 3 - Assam Hill Goat Development Board organised a goat camp at Dikhowmukh in Sivasagar on March 24 for treatment of goats and to sensitise local people about the huge financial gains a farmer can accrue through scientific goat rearing.

Dr David Bordoloi, veterinarian from Karbi Anglong spoke about different diseases affecting goats like PPR, goat pox, entertoscimia and the danger of interbreeding with unprotected bulls.

The organisers also made the participants aware about commercial rearing of goats and on banking and insurance facilities that were available. The camp was also attended by Dr Akshayvat Keshry, Head of the Veterinary Department, Pradip Handique, Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dr Anupananda Goswami, Dr Divakar Baruah, Dr Siddhartha Dutta and Dr Devananda Seleng.
