GUWAHATI, July 4 - Cadet Mayank Kumar and Abhishek Gautam of Sainik School Goalpara successfully completed All India Sainik Schools Mountaineering Expedition held at Manali Region in Himachal Pradesh from May 25 to June 14.

The cadets climbed the top of the 5342-metre Ladakhi Peak.

Besides mountaineering, the cadets were also exposed to rappelling, trekking, zipping, moraine walking, snow and ice craft training and river crossing as part of adventure camp.

This mountaineering expedition was organised by the Sainik Schools Society, New Delhi. Altogether 50 cadets from 24 Sainik Schools of the country participated in the expedition. The expedition was flagged off by the Haryana Governor Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki. The closing ceremony was held at Sainik School Kunjpura, stated a release.
