JORHAT, Dec 24 � Goalpara became the proud winner of RG Baruah AASU Gold Cup Inter District Football Championship.
In the final played at the JDSA ground here today, Goalpara fetched a comfortable 3-0 victory against Kamrup.
Dominating the proceeding from the word go, Goalpara went 1-0 ahead in the 27th minute when Dipak Boro bulged the net.
After switching over, Goalpara fired tow more salvos in the 59th and final moments. Ludra Boro made it 2-0 while Dhebach Daimary completed the rout.
In the closing function AASU adviser Samujjal Bhattacharyya gave away the trophy to the winning team along with AASU president Sankar Rai and secretary Tapan Gogoi. Former Pre-Olympian footballer Tashen Bora handed over the runners up trophy to Kamrup team.
Kamal Baruah and Jogeswar Deka, two veteran sportspersons were felicitated on the occasion where a souvenir was also released.
