GUWAHATI, March 9 � Goalpara gathered 271 in their first innings against Titabor in the first semifinal of the Plate Division Senior Inter District Cricket Championship for the Nurudding Ahmed Trophy.
In reply, Titabor were 43 for three on the opening day of the three-day encounter at the Nehru Stadium here today.
Electing to bat first, Goalpara batsmen had to pass through a tough time at the initial stage losing two wickets at team�s total of 27. But the middle orders steadied the innings with some responsible knocks and managed to build a respectable total in their first innings.
Uttam Thapa was their top scorer with 39 while Biju Kar scored 33. Nabo Nath and Dhrubajyoti Das contributed 32 each. Their other notable contributors were Jyoti Medhi Debraj Shestra who scored 27 each.
For Titabor, Suraj Kachari was the top wicket taker with three scalps while Ananda Bora, Mitul Saikia and Jashashya Phukan took two each.
